How To Rise Above What Gets You Down In Life

Do You Know The Currents Of Your Own Life?

Life has its currents – they peak in their own unique waves . . .  disappear through their own determined expressions . . . and we ride them.  Do you have a sense about the currents of your life – what rises, what falls, and how these rhythms go?

We do experience life in all kinds of cycles.  I sometimes recommend to clients that they create a timeline of events within certain key themes, like love, loss, moves, work, health; to be able to see patterns and corresponding meaning for greater guidance with current corresponding challenges.

Can You Find What Is Truly Good In Your Life?”

We always live our life in paradoxes and in multiple dimensions.  Frequently when life gets us down through its tough, tragic “peaks” we lose sight, for many understandable reasons, of other, opposite dimensions that are there to sustain and support us, often in surprising ways.

Here are my top three tips to uncover and use those critical dimensions as a boost from the universe to rise above what gets you down in life:

Prove to Yourself That You’re Not Alone

Know who really cares about you, and go to them without hesitation.  Tell them how you feel and what’s getting you down in ways they can understand; and open to receive all their love and caring in whatever way they can express and offer it to you. 

Note: this includes children and animals.  Many times this will wonderfully expand your loving relationships and invite whoever you’re sharing with to tell you their corresponding stories of great challenge and survival – which may give you just what you need to find your own way to where your real resolution exists!

Find A Way(s) to “Get Away From It All”

The fastest, most effective way to do this is through some form of meditation – working with your breath to carry you into alternate consciousness, which is the vibrational frequency, in holistic terms, that moves you to rise above what gets you down.  Brief frequent and regular meditative experiences show you these opposite dimensions of being and open the door to your intuition and creative problem-solving abilities. 

Here you can naturally  build your inner strength to better deal with your challenges.  Getting out in nature re-grounds and uplifts you, and brings subtle and powerful support, showing you there is lasting beauty, harmony and peace in your world. 

Write Down Your Deepest Thoughts, Feelings – Especially Fears – and Your Sense of What’s Going On As Your “Inner Observer” Who Answers the Following Questions:  Who, What, Where, When, Why and How?

Taking both of these central journaling focuses helps you compassionately face and sort out, as well as fully express, what is going on for you and how you’re responding.  This naturally and profoundly moves you to transcend into becoming your higher self, who can create the best solution for you and achieve your greater good – always rightly synchronizing with the universe’s power to change what is wrong to what is more right for you than you ever imagined.

The Real Value of Helplessness

Helplessness Doesn’t Care How You Feel or Think

How okay is it for you to admit feeling helpless?  In my practice clients seem to struggle most with that challenge, which “fits” with the epidemic dysfunction of longstanding duration in our culture that deludes us into believing we must run from any hint of experiencing that sensation, or we might not survive.

Helplessness doesn’t care how we feel or think about it.  It surfaces for its own powerful reasons designed to offer us a signal not to be ignored – one that doesn’t ever really go away until we come to terms with it.

Here Are My Key Points of Transformation

Here is what I’ve come to understand are key transformational points to consider to be able to experience the real value of helplessness:

1.  Helplessness that is avoided in any fundamental way sets the stage for addiction of any and all kinds to appear.

2.  Helplessness returns us to our core softness through reminding us of our essential vulnerability, that really is our “opening center” for healing and development.

3.  Helplessness when fully acknowledged and understood brings us to a place of immense compassion and higher awareness.

Try These Journaling Exercises for Self-Healing

Here are some related key journaling exercises to try to further explore each of the above paths for self-healing and transformation:

1.  Consider and write any/all your feelings, thoughts and experiences involving what you may be “hooked on”.  Read through all you’ve written, and ask yourself how helpless you feel.  Record whatever comes up inside you.  Now imagine you can ask your heart what it wants to transform – and record your response.

2.  Imagine in a deeper reflective state you are led to the softest part of your heart, and experience – then record – what happens.  Underneath your writing, write I am vulnerable.  Record whatever then comes up inside you.  Read through it all and ask yourself: what wants to open here as a “door” to key healing and development for you?  Record your impressions.

3.  Envision yourself as an expression of the divine surrounded by many enlightened beings, however you picture and fully feel this now occurs.  Here you are experiencing a full life review for completion and release.  Imagine you are so greatly encouraged by these beings to fully and freely express your sense of helplessness whenever it has been present in your life, from an immensely powerful space of unconditional love and acceptance.  Experience and record whatever now happens for and with you.  When you’ve finished, read and reflect on everything, and ask yourself what you may be more greatly able to observe and understand about yourself and your life.  Record your impressions.

How Do You Feel About Being Helpless?

Everything we feel and think throughout our lives is an expression of flowing balance that seeks its own resolution and greater wholeness.  The paradox with helplessness, then, is that it so fundamentally fuels our becoming so much stronger and better developed – able to function and respond in a greater present from an endless foundation of becoming.

Four Transformational Recommendations

Pick a problem, concern, or fear to focus on.  Write it down without any additional commentary included (for example, what you think it means, what you think should be done, etc.)

Then focus on each of the above ten directives through first meditating for at least several minutes on each one, followed by journaling your impressions.

Pick one of the above ten directives to primarily focus on for a week as an experiment to try, to see what effect it has on your particular concern.  See what happens.

Continue for the next nine weeks to focus on one additional directive each week for this same concern as a similar experiment.  Record what cumulatively happens.    

In the tenth week, consider your sense of how free you feel.  Record your insights and your whole view of this experiment throughout these ten weeks.

Free Initial 15 Minute Consult and The How-To’s

I am frequently asked if I do phone sessions.  I do – is the simple answer – and here’s how it all evolved:

I never started out doing phone sessions.  Actually I thought phone sessions would compromise what I seek to offer through the scope of my practice.  Much to my surprise, when, several years into my work, a person I met at a workshop I presented on the West coast asked me if I did phone sessions, I was moved to say “Yes”, which is in keeping with everything about Centering Tools and its evolution through the primary direction of my inner voice.

I discovered that the inner and outer voices are the “centers” of Centering Tools, and that through the link of the telephone and the profound sharing and core connections that it offers through many unfolding dimensions, clients can easily and excellently do journaling, inner journeying and extended discussion/processing, along with all that I’m moved to facilitate.  Skyping became a much more recent and exciting addition.

Initial consults of up to 15 minutes are always free for all my sessions.  My current rate for one hour, always by the time and inclusive, in that they can include possible handouts (can be sent via email to clients that do phone sessions), and recording guided meditations/hypnosis exercises (small additional fee to mail), is $80.  Different time is prorated, and for phone sessions people give me either MasterCard, Visa, debit card to process by the time of the session.  I give them a phone number to call, or Skype info, and we’re all set.

I always recommend clients consider signing up for my Centering Tools newsletter and review the many how-to empowerment, self-healing and holistic articles on www.centeringtools.com to accelerate and extend the scope of our work.  In addition, all of my Centering Tools audios, books, cards and courses are significant and helpful tools for ongoing resolution and development.

I am glad to hear from clients in between sessions for brief check-ins, questions, and further recommendations by email or phone.  I am currently inclined, since offering the survey last month to all Centering Tools For Self-Healing and Empowerment email newsletter subscribers, to additionally recommend completing the brief questions of the survey as the initial recommendation to key in to the central thrust of our work.
